Process Analysis of T-Core Hot-Pressed Integrally Molded Inductors: The Balance Between Small Size and High Current
Amid the trend toward thinner and lighter consumer electronics and miniaturized industrial equipment, T-Core integrally molded inductors are becoming the mainstream solution for small-size, high-current applications. Unlike traditional cold-pressed integrally molded inductors, T-Core inductors adopt a two-step forming process of “core pre-forming + powder filling and hot pressing,” achieving dual breakthroughs in electromagnetic performance and structural reliability.
The core advantages of the T-Core process are mainly reflected in three aspects:
First, lower DCR and higher permeability. The T-Core structure places the coil in the center of the magnetic core, with upper and lower yokes forming a closed “T”-shaped magnetic circuit, resulting in more uniform magnetic flux distribution. Core pre-forming improves the density of the magnetic powder, significantly increasing permeability at the same volume and effectively reducing DC resistance (DCR) and power loss, making it particularly suitable for portable devices and high-density power supplies with stringent energy efficiency requirements.
Second, higher structural reliability. The hot-pressing process reduces forming pressure by more than 20% compared with traditional cold pressing, effectively avoiding damage to the copper wire coil from high pressure and reducing enameled wire deformation and residual stress. At the same time, the coil and magnetic core are tightly bonded, eliminating defects common in traditional processes such as cold solder joints, wire detachment, and core loosening, while improving both mechanical strength and heat dissipation performance.
Third, better mass production consistency. The T-Core hot-pressing inline production line uses a fully automatic winding machine as its core front-end, with seamless connections between processes and clear, standardized operating procedures that enable precise control of core parameters such as temperature, pressure, and duration, meeting the large-scale mass production needs of high-end precision inductors.
The CPTC series T-Core integrally molded hot-pressed inductors from Zhongxin Inductance (CP) cover multiple package specifications from 1608 to 3225, with monthly capacity reaching 150KKPCS. They are widely used in smart hardware, consumer electronics, communication equipment, and other fields, providing customers with small-size, high-performance inductor solutions.
